I am grateful that you have chosen my pattern. Before you start diving in, I would like to let you know that this is not a regular amigurumi pattern. Crochet actually is a therapy which helps us to calm stress down, heal, know ourselves better and love ourselves more. Therefore, every project of mine has its own powerful and inspirational story. And I invite you to join me on this adventurous journey.
As you already know, in this project we are going to crochet jellyfish which can be not only cute toy for someone you love, but it can also be helpful and so much needed for someone. I am talking here about premature born babies. This pattern is designed specifically for this case. In the country I am from I am part of a charity organization, which helps premature babies and their family members. We knit clothes and crochet octopuses and jellyfish for them.
Crochet octopuses and jellyfish have specific tentacles, which reminds the feel of the umbilical cord in the womb. The tentacles provide comfort and a sense of security, reminding babies of the environment they were used to before birth. The soft texture of the yarn and the gentle pressure from the octopus's embrace can help soothe premature babies, reduce their stress levels, and even improve their breathing and heart rate. Additionally, the small size and intricate design of the octopus and jellyfish make it easy for tiny hands to grasp, promoting motor skills development and providing a source of sensory stimulation.
