Welcome to the "Not Normal" tapestry, my very first tapestry design!

The "Not Normal" tapestry features gothic-style text and a flame graphic, as well as a flame-like border around the whole piece, which will create a cool (or fire) wall hanging for you to display wherever you like. Colours can be changed freely to suit your tastes - why not try making a green or purple flame for a more necrotic or magical look!

This pattern is inspired by the song "Normalize" by my favourite band, Mother Mother. The lyrics I am referencing are "It's abnormal to be normal" which really resonated with me as a message. I tweaked the words to instead say "It's not normal to be normal" as it worked a lot better when laying out the design for this tapestry.

There are A LOT of colour changes so you will need to have some experience with frequently changing colours and working with multiple skeins of yarn at the same time. It's possible to make this pattern using only the tapestry crochet technique of carrying non-working yarn, but I would recommend also using the intarsia crochet technique to avoid colours showing through your stitches, especially with the black background colour.
