Hey y'all! It's Kelly! Welcome to my pattern, and thank you for being here! I was working on the FurFeather Forest collection when I realized Halloween is right around the corner. Obsi isn't from the forest, but he lives right around the corner, and he's here just in time for spooky season.

I would consider this an advanced beginner pattern. As with most amigurumi, it's all in the round. It starts with the head that merges with the body. All 4 limbs have bobble-stitch toes, but they need to be sewn onto the body. However, the head and ears are no-sew. The muzzle is made of 2 bobble stitches and a small gap in the middle for a safety nose or an embroidered nose. Obsi has 2 extra accessories: the cape and hat. He's "purr"fect for a gift or even a cute decoration, because who said black cats have to bring bad luck?



(Obsi's storytime) You can skip this part if you'd like. It's just a little something I add to my patterns to make them fun.

Long ago, about a hop, skip, and a jump from the Furfeather Forest, lived a withered wizard named Leldon and his nosy, midnight black feline named Obsidian, aka "Obsidi Kitty," aka "Obsi" for short. One day, after being told time and time again to stay out of the spell room, Obsi got curious and decided to play on the old shelves to see if he could find a bottle of catnip Crystals. One would think he would have learned his lesson since last time, when he ate enchanted fish-flavored spell gummies and turned himself into a frog. This time was different because he knew how to be careful now.

As he tiptoed across the shelves, he said, "That's it, that bottle says catnip; all I need to do is get past the Sniffle Shelf, and it's mine!" He took a few steps and tripped over the sneezewort sprinkles, sending the jar into a furious rattle. "Whew, that was CLOSE! I only spilled a smidgen (in his little kitty British voice), but felines are nimble critters, and I am the nimblest!" and with his tiny chest puffed out....... "aaaahhhh ahhhhhhhh ahhhhhhh choooooo!!!" A monstrosity of a sneeze blew him in a whirlwind, and down the shelves he tumbled, shelf by shelf, coating himself in sneezewort sprinkles, pollen powder, cat hair, dander, and dust... He fell, flipped, and tumbled until he landed... in the Magical cauldron...

Now, Leldon was working on a very powerful and effective wizard renewal potion to bring back his youth because he wasn't getting any younger. It only lacked one last ingredient... something from his body, like hair, to personalize the spell. There was a twist, though. It would work for anyone or anything if their DNA went into the mix. That's why he kept the room locked, but Obsi would squeeze right through the mail slot if he wanted to plunder. He had gotten by with this for a long time, but when Obsi fell into the mix, he coughed up a hairball, and you can probably guess what happened next... POOF!

He was now in a mix of something very stinky and smoky. While he didn't know the extent of the damage, he was sure that if he didn't climb out of this huge pot right now, Leldon was going to put him on restriction for the rest of his 9 lives (or what he had left of them).

He scrambled and climbed, using every claw, and as he finally straddled the lip of the bowl, he peeped at the large mirror in the corner. "Well, I'm not a frog this time, but why am I wearing this royal blue hat and cape? "Am I a superhero? I've always wanted to catch the bad dogs." As he got closer to his reflection, he said, "Waitttttt a minute. I'm not a superhero. I would recognize this attire from a mile away because Leldon the Mage wears this only on the days that end in "Y"." Just as sure as his coat was black, Obsi was certain that he was now a.... wizard!!! As he crawled over the side of the cauldron, he saw the mirror and was surprised to see that he was now wearing a majestic blue wizard hat and cape! "This is Amazing!" He exclaimed. "Sorcerer Kitty, Meow Mage, Leldon is going to be sooo mad, but I can't turn back now. I'm going to be the best whiskered wizard in the land! Which reminds me, I still didn't get my Catnip Crystals."
