Description
Overlay Mosaic Crochet Pattern For A Rectangular Scarf
Thank you for choosing this pattern and for being a part of my creative journey!
Introducing the Otis Scarf Pattern, a charming creation inspired by the holiday spirit and a delightful partnership with HOBBII yarns. This stylish accessory pattern finds its name from 'Otis,' a sweet German name for boys that carries the meaning 'wealthy.' When inspiration struck, and the motif took form, it distinctly resembled money bills, thus the perfect name.
Crafted with passion, this pattern boasts the captivating Overlay Mosaic Technique. This technique brings the intricate design to life exclusively on the right side (RS), with each row showcasing a single color. The interplay of two colors, C1 and C2, alternates in every row, weaving a captivating mosaic.
Within this pattern, two key stitch types come into play:
1. **BLSCS (Back Loop Single Crochets):** These form the empty blocks on the chart and are always worked in the back loop only. For simplicity, they are referred to as SC without specifying BL. If a regular SC is needed, both the instructions and the chart will guide you.
2. **FLDCS (Front Loop Drop Crochets):** These 'X' blocks on the chart represent 'drop-down stitches,' made in stitches from the corresponding color row (specifically the one two rows down). For convenience, they are referred to as DC without specifying FL.
At the end of each row, you will fasten off (FO) your color, leaving a tail to be trimmed later during the border addition. The Otis Scarf is crafted with its long side serving as the first row.
The beginning chain (CH1) of each row does not count as a stitch.
For this project, I used a delightful wool/acrylic mixed yarn, but feel free to choose the yarn that resonates with your creative vision.
To enhance your crocheting experience, a helpful chart is included, with colored squares representing the motif, empty squares symbolizing BLSCS (SCS), and 'X' squares representing FLDCS (DCS) made two rows below. To make the most of the chart, you can print pages 1.1 and 1.2 and attach them to reveal the complete motif.
The final measurements of the scarf should approximate 27x127cm when you've used the recommended hook size, yarn type, and followed the designated number of motif repetitions. For those who wish to adjust the measurements, consider starting with multiples of 96 stitches + 1 until you reach your desired length. For the width, the recommended count is 49 rows, which completes the exact motif. If you desire more width, doubling this count is an option.
Embrace the elegance of the Otis Scarf Pattern, and infuse your creative spirit into every stitch. I'm excited to see the stunning scarves you create using this pattern. Happy crocheting!
