Description
I've been working with Tunisian crochet for almost 2 years now and have absolutely become a fanatic for it. I developed a pattern called the Pixel Hood last fall, and it was an overwhelming success which led me to want to continue to grow the line of "Pixel" patterns. The stitches in this pattern are actually some of the first stitches that you learn when starting Tunisian crochet, but in combination with color changes, the result is a very striking pattern that to me evokes elegance in a modern way. Because of the use of 2 colors, I also think this stitch pattern lends itself very well to color-blocking which is where this vest idea originally came from. I've always wanted to have a vest with a matching color of neckline and bottom ribbing while the armhole ribbing is in a different color, and once I saw how much people enjoyed the Pixel Hood, the rest was a no-brainer!
This pattern is constructed top-down meaning you will start with the back yoke at the shoulders and work until the armholes. You'll then reattach your yarn at the front and work the shoulders to form the neckline and proceed to shape the armholes. You'll then join your work with the back yoke to create one very long row. You'll work until the body of the vest is as long as you'd like, then you'll seam one side of your vest closed and add ribbing to all of the openings.
