Description
This piece is a tube piece or lace-up piece made with three different stitch sections. It is most easily made into a skirt or top! The sections are ribbing, butterflies, and tulips. The butterflies do have mesh sections to create the wings, so this piece is see-through at sections. There are three colors, the main color for the butterflies, the leaves of the tulips, and the petals of the tulips.

This pattern is worked flat and the various rectangles are sewn together horizontally. The stitches are sewn using the whip stitch. The three stitch sections can be made in any order, and it can be made tubular or lace up, so you can customize your garment. This pattern gives instructions to make a skirt or a top, but imagine a butterfly dress with a tulip waistline and trim, or a sweater with a butterfly body and tulips instead of ribbing at the bottom and the wrists. Get creative and live your off-the-grid fantasy with a whole butterfly/garden/fairy wardrobe.

There is no gauge required for this pattern as it is made-to-measure, but please make a gauge swatch for the butterflies at minimum. Because the fabric for the butterflies becomes slightly more narrow than the other sections, it's best to test how wide the skirt should be with the butterflies so it doesn't come out too small.

You can use any yarn and hook size for this pattern, but keeping in mind the mesh qualities of the stitches, you may choose a more warm-weather friendly yarn.

Materials
Yarns
There are no required yarn for this pattern, because it is made to measure. You will need three colors, the main color, the tulip petals, and the tulip leaves. I recommend using a main yarn color that contrasts or pops with your skin so the mesh of the butterflies shows well.
Hooks
You can use any hook that fits the yarn you choose.
Needles
You will need a tapestry needle to sew your sections together, and to know the whip stitch. I will attach a link to instructions.
Tools
You will also need scissors, a measuring tape, stitch markers, and if you want to put elastic in your finished piece, elastic.
