Introducing the Popping Pearls Coaster, a charming and easy crochet pattern that features simple stitches to create a lovely, eye-catching design. This pattern is made in DK weight yarn with a 4.5mm hook. I think a synthetic or plant fiber is best for a coaster, as you will want it to be easy care. This coaster is worked in the round featuring double crochet stitch. You will work increases in the base, incorporating lacy elements and end with a textured, simplistic border. Gauge is not crucial in such a small piece.

The border features a stitch I created named "reverse extended single crochet stitch". It is fun to create and there are instructions for it in the pattern.

This pattern is written for one size which should be a perfect fit for most mugs. If you find that it is too small/too large for your mug, I encourage you to experiment with another gauge or the number of rounds.

This is a beginner friendly pattern, it uses basic stitches and there are also links to video tutorials for all the special techniques.
