Here are some cute potatoes I made for Pride. I originally designed this pattern for the Ghoul Squad as we keep talking about potatoes (if you know who Altknots is)

I will use DK for this, but you can use any weight you want, just choose your hook accordingly. Always use a smaller hook for plushies and amigurumi.
