Description
My first Pika Pattern!!

The Ili Pika (Ochotona iliensis)

The Ili Pika is a species of endangered Pika (they are lagomorphs, which is the same order as rabbits) native to China. They are currently only found in the Tian Shan mountains. Where they live in rocky, cliff like areas. Little is known about them, but they are herbivores that eat on grasses and herbs. Ili Pikas also come in two coat colors: the standard tan/brown with reddish stripes and a black variant.

It was discovered by conservationist Li Weidong in 1983, naming it after Ili Prefecture, where part of the mountains and where the Pika was found. He is currently one of the biggest voices for the Ili Pika. The Ili Pika's main threats are habitat loss due to global warming and pollution, as they rather colder climates. Despite Li Weidong's efforts, there is currently no fundraiser in place for the Ili Pika. Though there is now a Pika Sanctuary started by Jinghe County, Li is still trying to bring awareness to the Ili Pika to protect them.
