The spine of the shawl is a garter stitch panel that gives the knitter a break and creates a simple design element down the center of the shawl.
The ruffle edging builds on what was learned in the body of the garment by just by adding in a few purls on the right side row and increasing more stitches with yarn-overs. It will look fantastic with an edge in a contrasting color that really pops and beautifully elegant with a contrast color that is more subtle. A great stash buster as it only uses a small amount of both colors.
