Description
This little sailor fish is the first in a plushie series I'm creating, inspired by my sister's illustrations! <3
It is worked in CONTINUOUS SPIRAL and is quite simple to make. I haven't labeled it as a beginner pattern because achieving a neat finish requires consistent tension, something complete beginners or first-time plushie makers might still be mastering. However, if you're a beginner eager to give it a try, welcome aboard! The pattern is easy to read and includes plenty of HELPFUL PHOTOS AND VIDEOS to guide you through every step.
We will first work on the body, from the head down to the pants (using COLOR CHANGES), followed by the tail, and finish with the sailor hat. These 3 parts are crocheted separately and sewn together at the end using a tapestry needle.
You can make it with bulky chenille yarn and a 5.0 mm or 5.5 mm hook (depending on your tension) for a PLUSHIE(all the materials in the description are for this version), or with fingering weight cotton/acrylic yarn and a 3.0 mm or 3.5 mm hook for a KEYCHAIN. Both options follow the exact same pattern. Only the materials and hook size change.
ESTIMATED TIME: For reference, it takes me about 2 hours to complete.
In the original design, the colors are light blue (Color A), white (Color B), and red (Color C). However, the step-by-step photos in this pattern use yellow (Color A), white (Color B), and dark blue (Color C). So these are the ones listed in the materials section to avoid confusion. Feel free to use any colors you like!
I would love to see what you create with this pattern! Tag me in your posts on Instagram or YouTube. You can find me as @muumcrochet on both platforms. Also, if you have any questions, feel free to send me a message and I'll be happy to help!
Happy crocheting!
