Description
I've been seeing pretty rosette appliques all over the runway this season, so I just had to come up with my own knitted version. The rose is knitted lengthwise, with a series of decreases to shape, then coiled to shape and sewn together. Add a jewelry pin backing, and you've got a pretty floral brooch to add to your blazer, dress, or tank top. I've seen them attached to ponytail holders, belts, or even jean pockets!
Go a step further and attach it to a statement choker that's perfect for a night out, using a super simple 2-row stretchy lace pattern knitted widthwise (instructions included). So romantic and feminine!
This pattern works is just about any kind of yarn and any weight from lace to super-bulky, depending the size of rose you're looking to make. I've knitted it in a slinky ribbon yarn, a sock yarn, and a regular aran weight yarn and been pleased with the results.
