Description
After unsuccessfully knitting someone else's sheep sock pattern twice, I wrote my own from scratch taking inspiration from a couple of different sock patterns. I like shorter socks. If you follow the pattern as written you will have ankle length socks. You can easily customize the height of the leg portion just by repeating lines 8-22 on the sheep chart #1. These socks are knit top down using dpn's, magic loop, or 7" "shorties" circular needles. Use whatever method you feel most comfortable with. I have found that I use a combination of these when I knit socks. In find the 7" circular needles prevents the ladders I get with dpn's. As always, you may need to adjust needle size to obtain gauge. You will only need small amounts of blue, black, and white yarn, so it is a good way to use up some leftover yarn from knitting other socks. Just compare the weights/WPI since there can be variations in the "sock weight" category. Be sure to check out the matching Sheep hat pattern!
