Description
Shima-chan is the very representation of my love for Japan and winter. It is a shima enaga (silver-throated tit/dasher), which is a species of small birds exclusive to Hokkaido, Japan. And now you can make your very own from any part of the world! ^^
This is an advanced-beginner/intermediate level pattern because of the suggested materials and colour-changing. It works best with chunky yarn (recommended: faux fur or fluffy yarn; alternative yarn: chenille or velvet) that measures at weight 6 and above. Refer to the last two listing photos for a side-by-side comparison between faux fur and chenille.
Fun fact: These tiny, fluffy balls of floof are also known as "snow fairies", which is quite fitting for their adorable appearance.
I hope you'll enjoy making your own shima enaga, as I did. ^^
Share your finished work on Instagram and tag me (@cosynyarns) or create a Ribblr journal. :D You can also follow me on IG to view my works and other designs.
