Description
The Sloppy V sweater was designed to be the perfect cotton sweater to wear on those sloppy, Netflix-bingeing days, with a relaxed and semi-cropped fit keeping the look on trend.
The Sloppy V is worked in the round, to avoid seaming where possible. The hems are flat worked first, and then the body is worked seamlessly to the underarms. The sleeves are worked seamlessly, joined to the body to complete the raglan shaping, then the neckline is worked at the end.
I used the Long Tail cast on technique at the beginning, because it gives a pretty and stable right side edge, and the Backwards Loop cast on technique when casting on extra stitches in the middle of the row. I used a simple K 1, P 1 bind off for the V neck, to maintain the pattern. If you prefer different methods you are welcome to substitute these for your favourite technique - the choice is yours!

To make Sloppy V sweater you will need: 523 (570, 635, 691, 733, 828, 929, 1029, 1135) metres of an Aran weight cotton or recycled denim type yarn with approximately 8-10 wraps per inch, equivalent to approximately 4 (5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 9) x100g balls of yarn (yarn estimates are approximate.) I used 5 balls of Wool and the Gang Billie Jean Yarn in Washed Out Denim for the size medium., Stitch Holder/Scrap Yarn, 4x Stitch Markers. Tools required: 6.5mm (US 10.5) circular knitting needles with a 100-150cm long cable, depending on the size you are making (or size needed to achieve tension.) *I like to use circular knitting needles with long cables for all of my projects -when you don’t have enough stitches to fit the cable, switch to the Travelling Loop technique. You could also try knitting your sleeves two-at-a-time on one long circular knitting needle (and save yourself from Sleeve Island!), Measuring Tape, Scissors & Sewing Needle.
