Description
Pattern notes
This crochet pullover is worked in four pieces, back, front and two sleeves. The front and the back are joined at the shoulders and the sleeves sewn on. The body sides and sleeve seam is then joined on each side. Finally, a braided edging is worked around the hem and cuffs. It requires minimum shaping. It's an intermediate level pattern. You can crochet it in any size or color combination. You can also easily adjust the pattern to your own preferences. You can wear the sweater front or back depending on the mood and experiment with the colors.
Feel free to use the yarn and matching crochet hook of your choice to make the sweater. The result will be bigger or smaller keeping the same proportion.
Materials
Yarn used:
Stylecraft Special DK: Hint of Silver - 3 balls, Bright Pink - 3 ball, Storm Blue - 1 ball
4 mm crochet hook.
Tapestry needle.
Scissors.
Abbreviations
CH - chain
SL ST - slip stitch
SK - skip
ST/ STS - stitch/ stitches
SP - space
CC - change color
SC - single crochet
DC - double crochet
MDC - mosaic double crochet. Work a DC as normal, but work it in the skipped ST of the same color three rows below, in front of the two rows of chains in the other color. The chains will be visible and loose on the back of the work. You can however work the MDC around the chains, incorporating them inside the ST.
HDC - half double crochet
BLO - back loop only
2HDC TOG - 2 half double crochet together
DEC - decrease
3RD LOOP - Skip the front and back loop, the loop behind them is 3RD LOOP. It's also called horizontal bar because you can find it as a horizontal bar behind each half double crochet. When working into 3RD LOOP you are working on the back (wrong side) of your work.
Notes for Mosaic Crochet
Mosaic crochet works on principle of two rows in one color, back and forth, then switch to the next color for the next two rows. And so on. To avoid unnecessary ends weaving just leave the yarn not in use at the side of your work, ready to be picked up again after two rows.
Always make one more CH than the number of the STS being skipped to stop the work pulling in.
The first and last ST of any row will always be SC.
CH1 to start each row, this never counts as a ST.
