Description
Add some retro style to your teapot with a lovely hexaflower tea cosy!
This pattern will guide you to crochet a lovely tea cosy as shown in pictures, perfect for your breakfast or lunch table! Instructions to make the flower are included.
It is made using 8 ply / DK soft acrylic yarn and crochet hook E (3.5 mm).
Wool or cotton yarn will be suitable too for this pattern, as long as you can meet gauge. The tea cosy in the pictures was made using Stylecraft Special DK.
Finished size of this tea cosy will be approx. 9.4" wide x 6.3" tall, laid out flat. The hexagon motif makes this a great project for using up your scraps of yarn.
This pattern is suitable for any standard model teapot, 1.1 Liter, circumference approx. 15.8", measured around the widest part of the pot, excl. the spout and handle.
The hexagon motifs will be worked up in rounds, and will be joined together using crochet, to form a one-piece tea cosy. Very little sewing is required to finish the tea cosy.
Approx. Gauge: Each motif (rounds 1 - 4) will measure approx. 3.7" in diameter, measured from corner to corner.
Skill level: intermediate
Materials used:
- Crochet hook size E (3.5 mm)
- Standard size teapot; 1,1 Liter
- Yarn in DK weight: mint green for main color (approx. 30 gram, 97 yds, 88 m); white, yellow, brown (or any colors that you wish) (each approx. 13 gram, 42 yds, 38 m); yellow for the flower (or any color that you wish) (approx. 12 gram, 39 yds, 35 m)
