Description
Hello!
At the request of a user on tiktok, this blooming cactus cardigan was inspired by my Bobble Cardigan. That was my first ever finger knitting design, which sent me down the rabbit hole of chunky knitwear, so its very appropriate that the Cactigan was directly conceived from a tiktok of the Bobble Cardi. With a quick inversion of the sleeves and sewing on some roses, the Cactigan made its debut in late March of 2021. Due to the swift nature in which this piece was developed and written, this is an untested pattern, but that just means you can feel free to have fun with it!
This is my first pattern for finger knitting and Im excited to walk you through this! The techniques are simple; with knowledge of how a knit garment works, how to seam together panels to make the body of a cardigan, and very basic hand sewing and crochet skills, youll be able to recreate this cardigan to your specific (and personalized) size in about 4 hours!
Before we get started, heres some more things youll need to know: The model in the pictures below is wearing a size medium, but she typically wears a size small. The cardigan fits with some positive ease.
If you decide to sell, and/or post pictures/videos of your finished cardigan, please link back to this pattern and tag me @SeamsbySky. I'd love to see how yours turns out!
Level of difficulty: confident beginner/intermediate
Sizing: This cardigan is written for a size M, but includes suggested measurements and instructions for sizes XS to 2XL as well. It should have a classic fit with a few inches positive ease; it should fit comfortably, and a little larger than your bust measurement. Note: this pattern is written with women's sizing charts, but since the cardigan itself isn't fitted, this pattern is friendly for men and androgynous body types. Please see the sizing charts pictured for more information.
Care Instructions:
-Place in a pillowcase tie off, and wash cold with like colors
-Gentle cycle
-Lay flat to dry in a space with good ventilation
-Reshape as needed
Skills required:
Basic finger knitting skills (tutorial included), beginner crochet skills, basic knowledge of knitting stitches, beginner hand sewing skills
