Welcome to the pattern for The First Noel Christmas Tree Skirt! This pattern was inspired by many different elements of the Christmas tradition. The first being, that at the time of design I was in my last trimester of pregnancy for my first child, and all I could think about is how much I can’t wait to experience seeing my child’s first Christmas! This design is also my very FIRST Christmas pattern I’ve ever designed from start to finish! The look of the skirt reminds me of the cozy home décor aesthetic of stores like The Pottery Barn and works up quickly so that you have enough time to spend decorating your home for the holidays.

This is an Easy – Intermediate level pattern, written in US terminology. Pictures and graphics are also included to help you visually understand the creation process.

You will also be using these Easy to Intermediate skills when working up this pattern: Changing colors, tassel making, and the Jacob’s Ladder Stitch.
It is also good to keep in mind that this pattern uses very specific materials to achieve the perceived design aesthetic. Do not become discouraged if these particular materials are unavailable to you—your First Noel Tree Skirt will still look amazing using substitutions! When finding great substitutions, always reference the section on gauge as a starting point, especially as it pertains to yarn weight categories. Let this quest for new materials be a chance for you to grow creatively as a maker!

Special Pattern Notes:
+In the pattern, I will refer to the Bernat Yarn as “Yarn A," and the Yarn Bee Fur yarn as “Yarn B."
+The turning chains from Chapter 1 do NOT count as a st and should be omitted from the final stitch count at the end of each row.
+Any instructions that are inside brackets (i.e., “{...}"), are to be completed into a singular st.
+Row 1 of Chapter 1 will be worked into the back bumps or spine of the foundation chain. This approach is very necessary and will set you up for the last trim row of the Chapter.
+TheJacob’s Ladder st in this pattern is worked slightly different from other versions that you may have previously known. Please refer to the pictures for visual reference. At the end of Chapter 1 for visual reference.
+This pattern uses large jingle bells for added decoration and Christmas cheer, but they are NOT necessary for the completion of the tree skirt if that is not your desired aesthetic.
