The Hot Girl Shawl Top was inspired by my top artist of 2025, Megan Thee StallionI was in her top 0.02% of listeners on Spotify, and I wanted to celebrate that through the lens of fiber arts!

This triangular wrap shawl is super customizable and can be worn a ton of different ways! First an i-cord is worked to your desired length and then stitches are picked up and the shawl is worked by decreasing down to the tip. Florette details are added along the way as you get to the contrasting color in your skein.

Suggested Yarn:
Any fingering weight yarn in a colorway that has assigned pooling. You can use almost any yarn that has a consistent contrast color throughout the skein, with a length of around 8+ inches or 23+ centimeters.
Sample 1: Kenya's Knits Yasmin (80% extra fine superwash merino wool 19.5 mic., 10% Yak (naturally grey), 10% Silk) in the color Tina Snow.

Sample 2: Kenya's Knits Egret (100% Fine Organic Merino Wool) in the color Lover Girl.

This shawl is super customizable in terms of size - see the notes section before beginning for tips on how to size the shawl. The total yardage you need will also depend on the colorway you use (different lengths of contrast color will allow for more/less knitting between each florette) and how you plan to wear the shawl.

Gauge:
24 sts x 34 rows= 4" worked flat in stockinette.

Suggested Needles:
The sample uses a US 5/3.75mm circular needle.

Materials: Removable stitch markers and a tapestry needle.

Optionally, you might like to have an i-cord making tool for the first step of the pattern. I 3D printed one for myself, but there are many commercially available and they make working up a long i-cord a breeze.

Techniques: You will need to know how to knit, slip stitches, knit 2 together, slip slip knit, pick up and knit, and graft stitches with Kitchener Stitch or another method.
