Description
Introduction
I was taught to crochet by my great-grandmother, Memaw Margaret, my Nana, and my sister. I was so little I don't even remember learning. Memaw Margaret also taught me how to cross-stitch and embroider. She created intricate doilies out of tiny crochet thread, embroidered Holly Hobby cup towels, and latch-hooked thick wall rugs. I remember her afghans (blankets) made with granny squares decorating her tiny apartment. Her home was a magical place where you never got bored and there was always something interesting to look at. I always think of Memaw when I look at granny squares. I hope this pattern brings memories of love and joy to you and your family! This shawl will be very familiar to anyone who has experience making granny squares, but is easy enough for a beginner to learn!
The Margaret shawl is a half granny square shawl with a twist: the ends create a gentle crescent shape to go around the wearer.

What materials are needed for The Margaret Shawl?
To make The Margaret Shawl you will need: This pattern uses 135-150 yds of super bulky yarn using a size Q crochet hook.K+C Yarn in Nordic base, 1 ball Golden Yellow 45yds, 1 ball White 45yds. 100% WoolK+C Yarn in Pixel base, 1 ball Solid Blush, 45 yds. 100% WoolIf you would like a fuller or longer fringe than the pattern suggests, more yarn will be needed to complete your shawl. You can use any Super Bulky yarn you would like! You can also hold many yarns together to get a thicker yarn. However, keep in mind that all yarns vary and it is always best to try gauge swatching to see if the yarns held together hit gauge. You can create super bulky yarn by holding:Two Aran yarns together4 strands worsted2 Chunky yarns held together 1 Aran strand and 1 Chunky strand4 strands DK held together8 strands of sock yarn held togetherI do NOT recommend using a heavy cotton for holding many strands together because it could be too hard on your hands if you are creating a super bulky yarn. This pattern would also be beautiful if you choose to use thinner yarn than suggested. You can do this by using the Q crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge to create a super airy fabric!, K+C Yarn in Pixel base, 1 ball Solid Blush, 45yds. 100% Wool, K+C Yarn in Nordic base, 1 ball Golden Yellow 43 yds, 100% Wool, K+C Yarn in Nordic base, 1 ball White 43 yds. 100% Wool. Tools required: Size Q or 16mm, Yarn needle for weaving in ends or smaller crochet hook for weaving in ends.
