Description
The Omens are personal to me. I made them as a nod to mental health, emotional journeys, and trauma. I live with OCD, Autism, PTSD and loads and loads of trauma, life was super difficult for me until 2024. These things make living a normal life a little bit difficult and I struggled to find a place in the world where I felt like I fit...then I picked up crochet again. At first, I had no aspirations of designing anything at all. I went all in on trying to find markets and whatnot only to find out that I really don't enjoy markets nor making the same things over and over. So that got squashed quick.
I found some friends on Ribblr, and then we quickly moved to Discord. I got talked into starting a crochet Instagram account from there and then, here I am! I had no idea I'd design my own pattern. That being said, I poured my whole soul into this design.
The Omens are kind (and perhaps a wee bit mischievous) despite looking odd and maybe a little worse for wear. Each one embodies something to me, and most of my testers made one that embodies something for them.
What I wanted for The Omens wasn't a lot, just for them to be a safe way for myself and others to outwardly express their emotional journeys, trauma, mental health struggles, or even silliness. I was unsure about putting the story on the cover page at first, but I'm glad I did, because it connected! What I didn't know would happen was each and every Omen takes on a personality of its own and even without going into it with the intent to make it mean something, it still ended up meaning something to so many of my testers.
I hope you love The Omens as much as I do.
I hope he helps you heal or laugh or cry or whatever you need right now.
And finally...
The Omens most important task:
Helping to remind anyone who comes across them that they are never ever alone.

Lots of love,
Alli
