Description
This pattern includes both options - the original PDF pattern by KnittyBae and a converted interactive version, so you can choose the format that works best for you!
Presenting a crochet pattern for The Siren Shrug by Knittybae. Crochet pattern that creates lightweight garment with loose, elongated stitches. The shrug can be made by alternating between colors on each third row to create striped effect. This beginner-friendly pattern works up quickly using long double treble crochet stitches and a 5mm hook.
The Siren Shrug is a made to measure crochet pattern you can follow the provided double size M/L or use your own measurements to customize the fit exactly how you like. Each step includes notes and tips to help you adjust the sizing as needed.
This pattern is provided in English and uses American crochet shorthand/abbreviations. This document spans 16 pages and includes instructive images to further help you pursuit your goal result.
Recommended Skill Level: Beginner and above.
Pattern uses following crochet stitches: double treble crochet (dtr), slip stitch (sl st).
CONSTRUCTION OF THE SHRUG
The Siren Shrug is worked from the top-down in a classic raglan construction. You'll begin at the neckline, then work four increase points to shape the sleeves and body simultaneously. Increases are continued evenly until the desired bust measurement is reached.
Once the yoke is complete, the sleeves are separated from the body. The body is worked first, followed by each sleeve, which is completed individually.
MATERIALS:
- CROCHET HOOK 5 mm / UK 6 / US H-8
- Super Fine (no. 1) or Fine (no. 2) weight yarn
- SCISSORS
- TAPE MEASURE
- STITCH MARKERS
- TAPESTRY NEEDLE (optional for weaving in ends)
YARN RECOMMENDATIONS
- For the best drape and to maintain the intended look of the design, the Siren Shrug pattern works best with cotton or linen yarns. You can also use blends (e.g. 50% linen, 50% acrylic, etc.),
- You can combine 2 or strands of different weight yarns to create your unique look for this shrug.
- To ensure it works well with the 5 mm crochet hook used in this design and to maintain the best drape of the shrug, I recommend using a yarn no heavier than Light (no. 3) weight when working with a single strand.
(e.g. To make a Blue sample shrug I've used approx. 500 m of yarn with 5 mm crochet hook and single strand of Fine weight (no. 2) yarn: Rosários4 Mar in shade 16. To make a black and white sample shrug I've used approx. 1000 m of yarn with 5 mm crochet hook and two strands of Super Fine (no. 1) weight yarn held double: Melissa Perlés 100% Egyptian Cotton in shades 2 black and 16 off-white.)
