Description
Hello! Please read the full intro for info and notes on materials and sizing <3
The Soleil Top was the first top I made after learning I had a yarn sensitivity to the fiber I used to use, and the pattern is finally releasing exactly a year after I made the top! This top is made with bulky weight 5 yarn, but is loosely knitted on US 8/5mm needles, rather than US 10/6mm needles. If you typically knit with much tighter tension, I'd suggest knitting it on US 9/5.5mm needles.

I would say that the most difficult part of this pattern was decreasing for the sleeve opening!

Out of all my patterns, this is my second pattern for knitting on needles! The techniques are simple; with knowledge of how a knit garment works, and how to mattress stitch to attach the sleeve to the top, you'll be able to recreate this top to your specific and personalized size in about 2 weeks! (This includes time to stretch and relax your hands; you'll need it!)

Kindly take a look at my copyright statement at the end of this pattern. Please respect my copyright to support my work and help me carry on with my fiber creations. If you decide to post pictures or videos of your finished top, please link back to this pattern, tag me @SeamsbySky, and use the hashtag #KnitSoleilTop. I'd love to see how yours turns out!

Level of difficulty: advanced beginner/intermediate

Sizing: This top is written for a size S, includes suggested stitch counts and instructions for sizes XS to 5XL as well, AND has a link to the stitch calculator that can determine stitch counts/how much yardage you need to customize for your own measurements. The finished and blocked top is fitted with the exception of some positive ease for the sleeves.
***This top has been tested for sizes XS-2XL, with sizing and customization proving accurate. Unfortunately sizes 3XL-5XL have not been tested due to a lack of applicants, but sizing should also be accurate. If you usually knit for a size 3XL and 5XL and would like to try your hand at this top, please message me for a free copy***

Skills required:
Basic knitting skills, knowledge of knitting stitches (knit, purl, stockinette stitch, ribbing, ssk, k2tog, kfb, magic loop, binding off), basic hand sewing skills

Materials
Yarns
3 (3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 5) balls of Hobbii‘s Glitter Delight OR a similar chunky weight 5 yarn. You can also use 2 strands of a dk/light worsted weight yarn held together. The approximate amount of yardage has been calculated for you; given the circumstance that the top is about 13 inches long from your overbust to your waist, you will need 297.247 (273.723, 336.096, 373.146, 408.321, 446.854, 474.603, 497.037, 523.221) yards.
NOTE: These are suggested measurements based on the sizing charts and an estimated length from your waist to your overbust. As this pattern is made to measure, you may use more or less yarn depending on the length of your torso and how big you want your sleeve to be/how long you want your top to be. The stitch calculator has been provided to help you determine exactly how much yarn you need
NOTE #2: When using the stitch calculator, be sure to adjust your gauge stitches and yarn information before inputting your measurements. At the end of the calculator, you will find that it also tells you how many yards and skeins you‘ll need for your top :)
