Description
Hello hello hello!
I cant quite remember what inspired me to add sunflowers to one of my original designs, but perhaps the beauty of experimenting is trying out so many different things that it all contributes to your next creation! The Sunflower Cardigan was based on my second finger knitting design, the Belle Cardigan. With the addition of several crochet sunflowers and about five months of figuring out what would work best, the Sunflower Cardigan made its debut in early May 2021. The design retired in late October 2021, as a result of the amount of time and sewing taking a toll on my hands. However, the Sunflower Cardigan is a much loved design, and I want it to live on in this pattern. Given that the base of this cardigan is a design that Ive had in circulation since my first year of knitting, this is an untested pattern, but that just means you can feel free to have fun with it!
I would say that the most difficult part of this pattern was explaining the sewing process, so stay tuned for a video tutorial on my Youtube channel in the near future!
This is my second pattern Ive written for finger knitting and Im excited to walk you through this :) The techniques are simple; with knowledge of how a knit garment works, how to seam together panels to make the body of a cardigan, and very basic hand sewing and crochet skills, youll be able to recreate this cardigan to your specific and personalized size in about a week! (This includes time to stretch and relax your hands; youll need it!)
If you decide to sell and/or post pictures/videos of your finished cardigan, please link back to this pattern, tag me @SeamsbySky, and use the hashtag #SunflowerCardiganSbS. I'd love to see how yours turns out!
PLEASE NOTE: as of 11/23/21 to the present, this pattern is missing some pictures, and I have substituted them with photos used for the Cactigan pattern. Thus, you will see some pictures of the body of the cardigan in a green shade of yarn instead of white, complete with instructions.
Level of difficulty: intermediate
Sizing: This cardigan is written for a size M, but includes suggested measurements and instructions for sizes XS to 2XL as well. It should have a classic fit with a few inches positive ease; it should fit comfortably, and a little larger than your bust measurement. Note: this pattern is written with women's sizing charts, but since the cardigan itself isn't fitted, this pattern is friendly for men and androgynous body types. Please see the sizing charts pictured for more information.
Care Instructions:
-Place in a pillowcase and tie off; wash cold with like colors
-Gentle cycle
-Lay flat to dry in a space with good ventilation
-Reshape as needed
