Description
Always be yourself unless you can be a hedgehog !
This crochet pattern will guide you to crochet a hedgehog tissue holder as shown in pictures, made using soft acrylic yarn (DK / 8 ply) and crochet hook J (6 mm).
The hedgehog works up quickly by crocheting it with 2 strands of yarn, held together. This will give a nice, thick and soft fabric to cover the package of tissues and for countless hours of cuddling ! Stylecraft Special DK/8 ply was used to create the tissue holder in the pictures. Wool or cotton yarn of the same weight/thickness will be suitable too for this pattern.
Finished size will be approx. (l x h x w) 9.1" x 5.1" x 5.9" (23 x 13 x 15 cm)
Most parts of this hedgehog will be worked in continuous rounds. The bottom/flap will be worked in rows.
There will be an opening at the bottom to insert the tissues and a button closure.
Materials used:
- crochet hook size J (6 mm), fiberfill stuffing, black embroidery floss
- yarn: dark brown (approx. 100 gram, 322 yds, 294 m), mocha (approx. 30 gram, 100 yds, 90 m), cream (approx. 20 gram, 65 yds, 60 m), small amounts of green, pink, yellow
- stitch marker, tapestry needle, pins, 2 matching colored buttons diameter approx. 0.7"(1.7 cm)
- the content of 1 square tissue box (a regular Kleenex box was used for the hedgehog in pictures, size: 4.33 x 3.94 x 4.72" - 11 x 10 x 12 cm (l x w x h))
Stitches used: chain, slip stitch, single crochet, loop stitch, bobble stitch, increasing, decreasing
Skill Level: Intermediate crochet
Approx. Gauge: 5 sc = 1.57" (4 cm)
