Description
Simple and classic, this poncho is sure to become a fast favorite accessory. A unique ribbed edge borders one side of the intriguing twisted texture, which creates a fabric with exceptional drape. It's super soft and squishy, and pairs as effortlessly with an elegant dress as with a pair of leggings. And it works up quickly enough that you just may make another in a different color!
Ponchos are so great because they are easy to knit, they look good on all shapes, and are really practical to wear! The surprisingly easy to remember pattern is beautiful in its simplicity, a meditative project perfect for Knitflixing, social knitting, or even KWD (knitting while drinking).
You’ll work flat with an easy to remember 4-row repeat, then block, fold in half and seam along one edge with a crochet seam to create neck opening (schematic provided).
I can’t lie. I avoid mattress stitch any chance I can, and I love to work some crochet chains, so this is a win-win seam for me. Plus, it’s very easy to pull through an extra long loop when you think you’ve reached the right spot, and try it on! And if it’s too loose or too snug, you just work a few more chain stitches, or pull a few out! I hope you give it a try! Check out my demo of how it’s done.
This is my go-to accessory when I want to be warm and look nice. With it’s elegant drape, it pairs well with anything from leggings to an elegant dress …but I also wear it around the house all the time because it’s like a lightweight blanket wrapped around my torso!
