Description
This super cute crochet whale bookmark pattern is the perfect beach bookmark for your summer reading!

The whale is crocheted like an amigurumi and then a chain string and tassel are added to make it a bookmark.

This is a DIGITAL PDF PATTERN, not a finished item. If you're interested in the finished item, they can be found on my Esty: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1743009172/whale-bookmark-ocean-sea-mini-blue-whale

Looking for other ocean-themed crochet patterns? The shark fin bookmark pattern is free on my blog (https://comicsamscrafts.com/2024/07/12/shark-fin-bookmark-crochet-pattern/) and my YouTube (https://youtu.be/KrXEGUznCcQ).

There really is no gauge to this pattern, but the finished whale is about 1/2 inch tall and the string is about 10 inches long. The string size is entirely customizable, so you can make it as long or short as you want.

This pattern requires knowledge of chaining, slip stitches, and single crochet stitches. It is worked in continuous rounds. It is beginner-friendly, but working with crochet thread and small hooks can be difficult for beginners, so keep that in mind if you're new to using crochet thread.

You'll need a 2mm crochet hook and about 10 yards of blue size 10 crochet thread (or whatever color you want your whale to be, you can also make the belly a different color than the body). You'll also need a needle (I use a sharp embroidery needle, not a yarn needle) to weave the ends in, poly-fil or other stuffing, and scissors.

Feel free to sell finished items made with this pattern as long as you credit me as the designer and link back to my shop :)

Please message me here or email me at comicsamscrafts@gmail.com if you have any questions about the pattern, I would love to help you.
