Description
This pattern includes both options - the original PDF pattern by KnittyBae and a converted interactive version, so you can choose the format that works best for you!

Presenting a crochet pattern for Y2K Hollow Sweater by Knittybae. This crochet pattern uses mesh stitches to create a lightweight, openwork sweater with an airy and hollow texture. With this pattern you have two ribbing options that you can chose from: crocheted or knitted.

The pattern is designed in three double sizes: XS/S, M/L, and XL/XXL, but it can also be worked as a made to measure design. If the listed sizes don't match your measurements, you can customize each part by following the helpful customization notes throughout the pattern.

This pattern is provided in English and uses American crochet shorthand/abbreviations. This document spans 30 pages and includes instructive images to further help you pursuit your goal result.
Recommended Skill Level: Advanced Beginner and above.
Pattern uses following crochet stitches: double crochet (dc), single crochet (sc), sl st (slip stitches).

CONSTRUCTION OF THE SWEATER

The Y2K Hollow Sweater is worked from the bottom-up and constructed from one main body panel the front + back with neckline shaping. You'll begin by crocheting the front body panel and shaping the front neckline, working each side separately. To create seamless shoulders, each side is then continued directly into the back section while shaping the back neckline as well. Once both sides are complete, they're joined together and the back body panel is worked downwards to match the length of the front.

The sleeves are then added directly onto the body and worked flat. Once finished, the sides of the sleeves and sweater are seamed together from the WS using the mattress stitch to achieve a clean, polished look on the right side (RS).

To complete the sweater, add ribbing either crocheted or knitted, depending on your preference to the sleeves, neckline, and bottom hem for a finished touch.

YARN RECOMMENDATIONS

- To keep the mesh stitches defined and even, I highly recommend using a slightly heavier yarn, such as cotton. Yarns with more structure help the squares hold their shape and make the mesh look clearer and more uniform. Very lightweight or fluffy yarns may not define the mesh stitches as well, which can make the pattern appear less structured.
- I don't recommend using yarns that are too colorful for this project, as the mesh hollow effect might get lost in the colors.
You can combine 2 or 3 strands of different weight yarns to create your unique look for this sweater,
- To ensure it works well with the 5,5 mm crochet hook used in this design, I recommend using a yarn no heavier than Medium (no. 4) weight when working with a single strand.

e.g. For off-white sample sweater in size M/L I've used single strand of yarn: Medium weight (no. 4). I've used classic 100% cotton in off-white shade (in total approx. 900 m)
