Description
The Autumn sleeveless pullover is knitted from the top to the bottom using the Top-Down method. The pullover is completely seamless, and is inspired by the Contiguous Method to shape the shoulders, but not following the method literally. (The Contiguous Sleeve Method as developed by Susie Myers – Susiem on Ravelry)
The pattern starts with setting up the stitches for the collar, and knitting circular for 5 rounds. Followed by placing markers to divide the front, back and sleeves. Then back of the neck is shaped by dividing the sleeve stitches with markers and using the German Short Row Method to lift the collar. While at the same time in the pattern the shoulder increases are started.
When finished with the short rows for the collar, the pattern resumes with circular knitting and continues making the shoulder increases until the desired width is reached. Then the shoulder and back stitches are placed on hold, and the front is worked. First the front is knitted for a few rows without increases to the front stitches, then increases are added to continue shaping the armholes. When the armholes reach the desired length, the front stitches are placed on hold. Here the pattern returns to the back stitches, which are knitted the same as the front, until the pattern reaches the same number of rows as the front.
From here the pattern resumes with circular knitting, joining the front and back from the end of the armholes and knitting the rest of the body to the bottom, until 11 cm before binding off. At this point in the pattern a second set of short rows begins, this time to lengthen the front and back and create the effect of curves. The body is then finished with 6 rounds of rib stitch.
Finally, the stitches of the armholes are lifted and ended with 1x1 rib stitch.
