Description
This pattern is for a teen/child friendly ribbed top dress, however it is easily adjusted for adults as well. The ribbed top portion is made using a faux knit stitch to ensure full coverage, while the skirt portion is a little more open with the intention of shorts being worn underneath. I created this for my preteen daughter, as a first attempt at clothing.
Use any type or weight of yarn you prefer. Cotton will make a heavier garment, acrylic offers great coverage and washability. For children, I suggest staying away from materials that cannot be machine washed and dried.
This is the first pattern I will be releasing in a series of simple tops & dresses for children/preteens. The way I am designing them can easily be sized to fit any body size and shape. I have added several options for customization of this dress. Please enjoy the process and make the dress to meet your needs.
This is an intermediate pattern due to adjusting stitch counts to make the dress fit, but advanced beginners should be able to do well with this pattern.
You should be familiar with the following stitches and techniques:

Foundation chain/row using hdc (fhdc)
